‘Entanglements (Ouessant)’ came out of a month spent on the French island of Ouessant, that lies 30km off the tip of Brittany. The ‘Finis Terrae – Centre d’art Insulaire’ residency is housed in the ‘Semaphore’ tower of Ouessant’s famous Créac’h lighthouse and is surrounded on three sides by the deep Atlantic Ocean. One of the bodies of work that came out of this month spent surrounded by lichen-covered rocks, was a series of digital photos that record the actions of a soft human body attempting to entangle itself with the granite body of the island itself.
