Starlight Twin no.1: ‘Beta Cassiopeiae’

2023

‘A photon emerges from a star; a person is born – 54.5 years later their paths meet’

Digital photograph, 2021

Light from the star ‘Beta Cassiopeiae’ takes 54.5 years to reach the Earth. In March 2021, a photograph records photons from Beta Cassiopeiae meeting a hand that is also 54 and a half years old. Two entities, born at the same moment, meet each other on a balcony in Berlin – both having travelled through space and time for exactly 54.5 years.
