Dreamland

20 laser-cut panels in windows around Margate, Kent, UK, 2003

The Turner Centre exhibition followed a residency in Margate in the ‘Dreamland’ funfair. During this period 50+ palm-pilot sketches were made in and around the funfair and the seaside town. These drawings then had three different outputs.

Around the town (behind the counters of shops, in windows etc.) the drawings appeared as plastic laser etched signs

From the Turner Centre, a weekly email was sent out with a drawing embedded as a small animation and the Turner Centre itself, then acted as hub of this diffuse dissemination, housing an installation using three carousel projectors to randomly project the drawings as a rolling slide show (a kind of giant slot machine).
