Direct From This Window (117 degrees south-east, a view from the Bosphorus)

Laser-Cut Vinyl, 2010

A commission forĀ Grand Union in Birmingham, Direct From This Window (117 degrees south-east, a view from the Bosphorus) is a laser cut vinyl semi-permanent installation for the gallery’s windows. The piece shows a view of the Bosphorus, in Istanbul which would be the view if you looked directly from this window and could see into the extreme distance.

The piece, designed to also act as partial blackout for the space, projects shadows of the drawing across the floor when the sun shines.
