Dead Sea Level
(minus 418m)
The Dead Sea in Israel is the lowest point on earth's surface. Standing
on the shore of this salt-sea a visitor now stands 418 meters below
the sea-level. Shrinking at a rate of 1 meter a year, the water's
edge continues to retreat as the nations that surround the Dead
Sea divert more and more fresh water tributaries away.
Dead Sea Level (minus
418m) is a proposal to visualize this missing body of water
- to momentarily create a surface of a missing ocean 418m above
a bystander's head.
