Orbital no.1
2002, Artsway, Hampshire
Projected onto an oval backprojection screen Orbital no.1 was commissioned by Artsway for the exhibition 'Psychotopography'. The film visualises a contemporary model of the city where the circular routes imposed upon this area have assumed a mythical status. Three circular journeys were recorded in real time and combined into a single hypnotic image (The M25 Orbital Motorway, the North and South Circular and the Circle Line).
Orbital no.1 creates a map defined by the gravitational pull of the center and offers a glimpse of the dizzying energy states that define the contemporary city.
