Civil Engineering & Termite Hat
1997, Namibia

Namibia's landscape is either desert or semi-desert. In the more fertile regions the flat landscape is punctuated every 20 meters or so by the cooling towers of termite hills.

The culmination of the short residency 'Tulipamwe' Civil Engineering was conceived as a misguided UN project, building an unused suspension bridge between two of these blind citadels. Termite Hat (right) simply consists of nine photographs of termite mounds with artist's hat.
